Back from leave, so I’m grateful for the catch-up week. My RSS [Google Reader] is set up nicely with the various sites grouped into folders. It was really useful discovering how to include web sites that do not offer RSS. One aspect of our Graduate School presentations that always gets a lot of interest is the material on Current Awareness Services, which suit RSS so well. I may set something up to use as an example in future presentations.

My Wiki page
Posted by iclamc on July 29, 2008
Week 2 of the programme and we already have some nice contributions. It’s fun looking at colleagues’ pages and also very instructive navigating my way around the packages. It was frustrating not being able to load a photo to the wiki page, but I’m sure I’ll overcome this problem when I have access to a more cooperative PC. In the meantime, here is the link to a very basic wiki page:Adrian’s Wiki page
Next week I’ll be taking a break from the programme, but I’ll be catching up again on August 11th. Until then, here’s a picture clue as to where I’ll be and what I’ll be doing …
And finally for today, I appear to have made a very small mark in the Web 2.0 world by having a photo of Rosslyn Chapel included in the 5th ed of the Schmap Guide to Edinburgh. I’ve had problems trying to install the Schmap widget, so here’s a link to the page instead:

I name this ship …

Smash the bottle of champagne, send the ship down the slipway, and then ask the big question – will it sink or will it float? Well thanks to the excellent workshop run by Jenny, Katharine and Lawrence there’s
a sporting chance that it will stay bobbing on the surface on the water and may get considerably more colourful and interesting in the coming weeks. I’m looking forward very much to the rest of the programme as today has been really informative and terrific fun.
The other big question of course is how long I hold out before I post a photo of the dog (yes, there are too many cats in the blogging world).
Cheers, Adrian
